Love Food? Love Flavour Fest
Flavour Fest, a food festival extravaganza sponsored by Boringdon Hall, is back for its twelfth year with lots to enjoy! Visitors can look forward to an exciting programme of chef demonstrations, a Demo Marquee area and a full line-up of entertainment from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August in Plymouth’s City Centre.
ITV’s This Morning chef, Phil Vickery is headlining this year’s Flavour Fest. He will be joined by fellow chefs Chris Tanner, Peter Gorton, Dez Turland, Richard Hunt and many others in the Cookery Theatre, which runs with a full programme of demonstrations on The Piazza, underneath the big screen.
New to Flavour Fest this year is a Demo Marquee area on Guildhall Square. There will be a series of 30 minute workshops throughout the weekend with the chance to learn culinary secrets from the many professional chefs. There’s also lots of fun for the little chef in your family to come and explore the world of food, with a local chocolatier, biscuit decorating and even creating bicarbonate of soda rockets.
There will also be a Grow, Share, Cook area on Guildhall Square where visitors can enjoy gardening and food fun, with an emphasis on children’s activities. Join chefs in cooking fresh local produce or try your hand at welly boot painting and planting.
Langage Farm will have a larger than normal ice cream offering in the tent with a wider range of flavours. Visitors will also have the opportunity to create their own flavoured frozen yogurt as well as the traditional Devonshire cream tea.
Langage Farm will officially unveil the winner of its frozen yogurt competition to the general public and will be presenting the winning pupil and their school with the prize of seven Hudls donated by our partners Tesco. Tesco’s film crew will be filming this event to use and publicise this fantastic competition and will have the winning flavours for sale in their local stores after Flavour Fest.
Also on offer in the Langage Farm tent will be local band the Dodgers who specialise in music from the sixties and seventies.
Flavour Fest has a quirky and exciting programme of family friendly street entertainment which includes a juggling chef, a chilli challenge, chef stilt-walkers, children’s fairground rides and The World Potato Peeling Contest.
Liz Lawson, Board Director of Plymouth City Centre Company said: “Flavour Fest is now in its twelfth year and people come back time and time again to enjoy one of the biggest food festivals in the regions. It provides an opportunity for local retailers, independent market traders and restaurants to showcase what makes them so special in the world of food and drink.”
Over 120 food and drink traders will be lining the streets, tempting visitors with a range of local produce including fresh fish, cheese, home baked cakes, artisan bread and pastries and cider. C&G Catering will be running a Rum and Ale themed bar providing a welcome rest area for thirsty shoppers.
With lots to see, do and taste this really is going to be a Flavour Fest to remember. Please see visitplymouth.co.uk/flavour-fest for more information.
