More than 500 people attended a special launch event to mark the move by two of Plymouth's leading independent trade brands, MST and Parkins, into their new expanded premises.

The move to Mill Close on the Lee Mill Industrial Estate has seen Parkins, a supplier of tools and equipment to general light industrial businesses, and sister company, agricultural and ground care machinery specialist MST, occupy a facility twice the size of their previous location.

To celebrate the move an open day took place where visitors were treated to live tool demonstrations from Bosch and Hitachi, together with a prize draw and hog roast.

Other manufacturers' displays included Husqvarna, Honda, Stihl, Sparex, GreenMech and many more.

Afterwards Nigel Godefroy, director of MST and Parkins, said: "There was a steady flow of people coming to see what was happening and by the end we'd seen about 500 visitors through the doors.

"What was particularly pleasing was the sheer variety of people who came to see us and have a closer look at what we have on offer at our new premises, with a good mix of tradespeople, those from the farming community, DIYers and more besides."

The move to new premises was only made possible thanks to a cash investment of more than £250,000 by MST and Parkins' parent company, Longhouse.

Nigel Godefroy said: "We think we've created a really fresh, innovative facility for Plymouth where those interested in the very latest power-tools and hardware can come and browse the Parkins range and speak to highly-knowledgeable experts, combined with a fantastic space to showcase the MST range of agricultural and other specialist land vehicles."

He added: "For those who couldn't attend the open day please just come along to our new premises at Lee Mill and we'll be only too happy to show you round so you can see for yourself what's on offer here."
