South West family law specialist shortlisted for prestigious national legal award

The Family Law Company has been shortlisted for a prestigious Law Society Award, the highest accolade for law firms in England and Wales.

The firm, which has offices in Exeter and Plymouth plus a new provision in Cornwall, is a finalist in the Excellence in Practice Management category.

Director Rachel Buckley said: “We are extremely proud to be shortlisted in these national awards, especially after a year like no other.

“As the largest family law specialist in the region we believe we have stepped up to the mark to meet head on the increase in cases during the pandemic and changes to ways of working.

“Over the last 16 months practice management has been a critical element in our response to the pandemic, leading to strategic recruitment including a new Head of Marketing and Head of HR, increased commitment to staff wellbeing, a new internal comms strategy and improvements to our client journey.  

“Within this remit we provided free information for families impacted by contact or separation concerns during the pandemic and continued our dedication to legal aid clients by bringing on the next generation of legal aid lawyers.”

Law Society of England and Wales president Stephanie Boyce said: “Congratulations to all those who have been shortlisted. After an extraordinary year, it has never been more important to celebrate the outstanding work of our profession.

“Solicitors play a vital role in times of crisis as people turn to trusted professionals, to explain the law, advise them on their rights and their obligations, and give them some sense of certainty.

“As the country emerges from the pandemic, solicitors will be there every step of the way to help people and businesses get back on their and ensure access to justice and the rule of law.”

Winners will be announced in an online ceremony on 7 October.
