Great Expectations Team shortlisted for another HSJ Award
A successful project, delivering an education programme to pregnant women and their partners/supporters at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
The team have been shortlisted from a total of 1300 entries, the highest in the awards history, for their entry ‘Great Expectation Antenatal Programme’ from Plymouth Community Healthcare, in the category, Primary Care and Community Service Redesign 2014.
Sue Stock, Head of Midwifery, said: "This nomination is particularly exciting as Great Expectations is such a good example of cohesive partnership working. I am really pleased that such a committed team have been recognised in this way.”
Great Expectations is an antenatal education programme for pregnant women and their partners/supporters. It is a six week course, which follows the chronology of a pregnancy and birth and aims to provide parents-to-be with extremely useful information and practical skills. This helps them to feel more comfortable about making choices for their new arrival, whether it is their first baby or not.
The feedback received from the programme is extremely important and is collected and evaluated. It has demonstrated that women and their partners/supporters feel far more confident about responding to their baby’s needs and feel more prepared to make informed choices about their pregnancy and birth, after the course.
The excited team will now attend the national awards ceremony in London, on Wednesday 19th November, where they will find out if they are the overall category winners.
