Entries are up in this year’s Devon Tourism Awards and look set to grow further as organisers announced an extended deadline to 29 August in the Outstanding Customer Service and Tourism Event categories.

Awards organiser Robin Barker of Services for Tourism is delighted: “The Awards have really taken off this year, hitting record numbers following the region’s success in last year’s national awards, when we were England’s top region. What is great to see is the number of first-time entrants alongside many ‘regulars’ – plus the success of the new ‘Dog-Friendly’ category.

The awards celebrate excellence in tourism across the South West and aim to promote and reward leading businesses and individuals in the tourism industry, whatever their sector and size. They are free to enter and all entrants receive feedback.

Carolyn Custerson, Visit Devon, commented “To win one of these awards is an outstanding achievement and I’m delighted the high standard of entries continues to grow. Devon is one of the most beautiful holiday destinations in the UK and offers outstanding visitor breaks and value for money. These awards help highlight the achievements of the county and, I hope, will bring us more visitors across the year."

Eddie Bent of e-Strategy, headline sponsors of the Devon Tourism Awards, said: “I'm delighted to see a record number of entries into this year’s awards.  It's a testament to the quality of our tourism offering in the region.”
