Nine-year-old girl grabbed by man while playing hide and seek

Police are appealing for information after a nine-year-old girl was grabbed by a man while playing hide and seek in the gardens at Dartington Hall.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon (12 Oct) when the girl was playing near to the donkey statue at Dartington Hall. The girl, from the Totnes area, was approached from behind by a young man who grabbed her arm. She managed to kick the man who fell to the ground, and she was able to run off.

Police are keen to identify the man who is described as white, in his 20s, around 5ft 6ins tall and with brown hair. He was wearing a dark hooded jumper and possibly, blue jeans.

Anyone who saw the incident, which happened between 3.30pm and 5.30pm, or has information about the man, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime number JS/13/1248.
